Commencement 2010

Trivium School Selected As One of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools
The National Catholic High School Honor Roll (www.chshonor.org) announced its fifth annual selection of the best 50 Catholic secondary schools in the United States for 2009 and 2010. Trivium School was the only Catholic High School in New England to make this year's Honor Roll.
The Honor Roll provides a powerful resource to parents and educators by acknowledging those schools that best maintain high academic standards, uphold their Catholic identities, and prepare students to actively engage the world. Nearly 1,300 Catholic high schools were invited to apply to the Honor Roll by completing surveys that measure academic excellence, Catholic identity, and civic education. The best schools demonstrate a balanced excellence, which includes an active Catholic culture, sound college preparation and integration of Church teaching in all departments. These schools also display sound moral, catechetical and civic formation that prepares students for vocations in the world as political, religious, scientific and business leaders.
The school takes seriously its mission to form students grounded in the great thinkers of the past. As Bishop Robert McManus said at this years Commencement Mass, "At this school, you have been taught to become not only knowledgeable but more importantly, to become wise." When informed of the selection to the Honor Roll, Trivium School Headmaster, Dr. William Schmitt stated, "We are very grateful because this is an honor for our whole School: for our students, their parents and our faculty."
Gerard Bradley, professor of law at the University of Notre Dame Law School, said the Honor Roll serves an important purpose. "High schools that are fulfilling well their mission to form students morally and intellectually deserve to be recognized," he said. "The Honor Roll brings recognition to these outstanding schools."
The Catholic High School Honor Roll is an independent project of the Acton Institute, an international research and educational organization. The Honor Roll was produced in consultation with a national advisory board comprised of Catholic college presidents and noted Catholic scholars. For more on Acton, please go to http://www.acton.org/.
